Located at Jalan Pantai Batu Belig No. 5 in Seminyak – the hippest area for unique and instagrammable cafes in Bali, Tropicola Beach Club offers you one of a kind beach club with big swimming pools and sunbeds while enjoying the frontbeach view of Batu Belig. Just opened last August, Tropicola boost a concept of 80’s era type of beach club with its signature vibrant vibes.

I got to visit Tropicola (after the rave reviews from Instagram) in late October with two of my old friends from UI, Febby – who randomly ask me to have a trip to Bali and Ndaru who now works and lives in Bali. It’s been four years since the last time we met. It turns out to be another reunion for Febby, since her old friend from primary school days, Kiki, works in Tropicola. We actually got the same name, what a coincidence !

Anyway, at that time the bar is full and only tables available. If you want to book a table, you need to spent minimum of 200 K IDR per person. You can sit on the bar or stairs-like bench for no limit puchases. Luckily, Kiki got us a bit privilege, yes a table! Thanks dear!

FYI, for you guys instagram people, this surely an important notice when you visited Tropicola. You are not allowed to take any pictures with camera. Yup, they only allowed you to take pictures only with your phones. If you take one with your cam, they will fined you around 2 million IDR, i guess or around that amount, i’m not sure but still is quite a big money, right?

Tropicola gives you a dejavu feeling, It kinda brings you back to the past. Especially with the architecture, it really reminds me of Le Corbusier’s. The used of prime colours like red and blue applied in tiles and furnitures while the yellow sunbrella on the side of the pools, gives you a Piet-Mondrian’s vibes. The overall ambiance is very relaxing and you can enjoy the sunset view from the frontbeach. No wonder they called it paradise at the sea.

Isn’t this reminds you of Piet Mondrian?

One of the cute details is their staff’s uniform. The sporty look from a simple white tees and red shorts/skirts combined with white sneakers and red stripes socks are definitely signature style of the 80’s.

Open Kitchen Concept

Since we already got full from the previous cafe hopping, we only ordered snacks and drinks. Kiki recommend us elixir juices, e1, made from tumeric, ginger, honey and spirulina. It taste so good and refreshing! It really calms you down after the hot sunny day in Bali. While Febby and Ndaru ordered, e3, made out of coconut water, honey and spirullina, it also taste good eventhough look-wise is not very appealing. LOL

For the snacks, we ordered Guacamole with Veggie Chips. The guacamole taste quite bland actually with a strong onion aftertaste, maybe from the shallots. But the chips are quite nice and crunchy. Next time, i should order their main course and dessert, maybe they will taste better.

So far, i could say this is one of my favorite beach club in Seminyak after Mrs. Sippy. You should definitely come here when you visit Bali.
